About us
We are a couple in our mid-50’s.
We planned and invested for a number of years but unlike many blogs you will read, our plan was not based on either extreme frugality or a particularly organized route to investing or a particular "number". We were both financial professionals although some of our decisions disguise that very well!
Our fundamental belief is life is about being able to do the things you want to do and while money won't make you happy, I've never been in a situation where money made things worse.
Originally, we were about FIRE (Financially Independent Retried Early) but now we're about FILF (Financially Independent Living Free) which means being able to live on your own terms without having to worry about making a living.
We’ll share our journey, not because it’s a model for others to follow but maybe because hopefully there’s an inspiration that others can learn from our experience (both positively and negatively!)
Originally from the United Kingdom, we had itchy feet and left in 1999. We have since lived in Continental Europe and Australia before returning to the UK in 2019. Awaiting the next adventure.
Life is all about enjoying memorable experiences with those you love. Over the years we've seen some fantastic places and had great times but after a couple of months everything blurs and the memories fade. The origin of this blog was to create a more permanent record of those experiences and to share those experiences for others to enjoy.
